Stand up paddle boards, kayaks, yoga classes on the river all located a few minutes from the Quinta at Porto Antigo. Kayak up one of the cleanest rivers in all of Europe and have a delicious Bifana and a glass of wine or beer at Porto Antigo.
Take a short drive to the scenic lookout point Observatório da Natureza de Marcelim. Amazing views along with a charming albeit tiny bar/restaurant with a great charcuterie board. Enjoy the natural waterfall along the way.
Just a short drive or a walk down to the local waterfall park “Parque de Lazer do Ribeiro de Sampaio, provides a nice cool journey through majestic cascade of spring water down to the Douro River. There is also a park with accommodations such as benches and places to grill, or take a quick trip down for some seafood or local Portuguese meat dishes right by the locks next to the Douro. There are many waterfalls just off the local roads and up into the mountains that are quite easily accessed.
Scout around at the local wine bars and restaurants for the regional specialty known as Vinho Verde. A light crisp slightly effervescent white wine that is imminently quaffable, especially during the warm summer months. The polar opposite of Port wine, which is rich and sweet.
There are several wineries just minutes away from the Quinta.
With so many locations to see a great sunset over the mountains, why not grab a local wine and sit back and relax as the cool breeze washes over the warm nights.
With seasonal fruit available through the spring and summer you can stroll the grounds and grab a fresh pear, apricot, apple, lemon, orange, grapes and of course gorge yourselves on blueberries (in May/June).
